Camp, the best time in the entire scout year...

Summer Camp Program

Boy Scouts of America

Family Night

Sunday and Friday there will be two campfires held at the camp fire ring on top of the hill.  All leaders and scouts will be escorted by the staff to the council ring on Sunday night.  The camp staff performs skits and songs Sunday night for campers’ entertainment.  Friday night each troop is given an opportunity to perform skits and songs the rest of the campers in a closing camp fire.

Camp Fires

Order of the Arrow

Calling out ceremonies and Ordeals will be conducted each week of the regularly scheduled Boy Scout

camping weeks. It is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster, or the summer camp unit leader, to

show the unit’s copy of the O.A. election results to the summer camp chief. This will be requested

by the camp chief at the beginning of your week at camp. This will need to be done for your unit to

have participants in the calling out ceremony and the Ordeal. As with all O.A. lodges, we are not

permitted to have out-of-council Scouts or leaders participate in the full Ordeal. This must be done in the

council to which you unit is registered. Out-of-council units may have their elected Scouts and leaders

“called out” as public recognition while at camp. To have this happen, we need to have a letter from the

council of these units to grant us permission to do so.

The Ordeal fee is $35.00 for troops camping at Camp Lowden or Canyon Camp. The Ordeal fee includes

the following items: O.A. sash, Wulapeju Lodge #140 pocket flap, O.A Handbook, and dues paid through

December 2007.

Mile Swim

Mile Swim is an activity badge that can be earned by any scout or leader who is able to complete a one mile swim in the swimming pool.  This activity is led by the aquatic staff at the pool.  The Mile Swim is done on Friday morning following breakfast.

On Wednesday night, camp is open to parents and friends. Everyone is invited to observe the flag

lowering at 6:00 p.m. and afterwards share a barbeque supper, which will be available until 6:40 p.m.

Please inform parents that after 6:40 pm food will not be available in the camp dining hall. Picnic tables

are available for troops wishing to organize family or troop picnics.

Following supper, there will be an “open house” where parents and friends can visit camp program areas.

The evening program will conclude with Native American dancing and the Call-Out Ceremony for the

Order of the Arrow.

Leaders must inform the Camp Director at check-in on Sunday as to the total number of additional family

members that may be expected for the evening meal on Wednesday.

FAMILY NIGHT MEAL FEES

Visitor’s Meal $6.00

Children under 12 $4.00

Visitors should be reminded that they are not permitted to drive to campsites or activity areas. All

vehicles must remain in the parking lot. Camp is not capable of providing transportation for guests.

Wheelchairs, golf carts, and other such modes of transportation are not available.

Snorkeling Activity Badge

Scouts and leaders may participate in this activity to earn the activity patch for snorkeling.  Like the Mile Swim, this activity is held in the swimming pool and taught by the aquatics staff.

Camp Wide Games

At the end of the week, scouts have the opportunity to participate in games hosted in the different program areas.  Scouts may compete in Rifle and Archery competitions, Scoutcraft skills, and a relay contest through the different areas.  Winners of the competitions are awarded ribbons for their accomplishments during the Court of Honor held on Saturday Morning.
